Several weather alerts are taking effect, including wind alerts for the Vancouver Metro, heavy rain in the Fraser Valley, and winter storm alerts on the kokihara highway.

On Thursday, the South Coast subway in Vancouver caused widespread power outages, ferry cancellations, dangerous road conditions and air train disruptions.
In the White Rock, the strong winds bump loose ships into the dock, split the dock in two, and stranding a man at the far end.
A helicopter was dispatched to rescue the man from a free land.
The upright part of the dock continues to be hit by wind and waves.
The pier is closed until further notice, Baishi said.
They urge residents to avoid the waterfront and respect roadblocks set up in response to extreme weather events.

In Vancouver, a huge tree blown from the entrance to Burrard fell on the Stanley Park Causeway, disrupting traffic in the downtown and north shore.
The causeway connecting downtown Vancouver and the Lions Gate Bridge was reduced to a lane in each direction for most of the afternoon.
The BCHwy99 tree at StanleyPark Causeway simplifies the road to one-lane traffic in each direction.

During the entire storm, Hydro customers were out of power at different times on Vancouver Metro and Vancouver Island. By 9 p. m.
Mera Scott, a spokesman for Hydro, said that 260,000 of customers on the lower continents and islands are still in the dark, while about 240,000 of other customers have restored power.
