how to tighten a belt on a swamp cooler - how to make a swamp cooler
The swamp cooler relies on inhaling a large amount of external air through a clean, thoroughly damp filter in order to properly cool down the house.
There are many factors that interfere with the transfer of air from the outside to the swamp cooler.
A common problem is the fan belt from the fan motor to the fan blade shaft.
If the belt wears out and extends over time, or if the motor slides into the sliding bracket, it may become loose.
The tightening of the belt is a simple and clear operation.
Use a flat head screwdriver to pry up from the bottom of the filter pad bracket and remove the filter pad bracket from the side of the cooler unit closest to the fan motor.
Turn the bolt counter-clockwise with the crescent wrench and loosen the motor in the sliding motor bracket.
Check the belt firmly around the pulley on the motor and fan shaft.
Use a crowbar to push the motor back into the slide frame until the belt is closely connected to the fan motor pulley and the fan housing pulley.
Fix the motor on the sliding bracket and tighten the mounting bolts.
The belt should be tight enough to turn the fan blade, but not too tight, and the belt will scream or scream when the fan motor is connected.
It is too tight if the belt makes noise.
