A fire in the air at Hope Valley nursing home
MFS said the air-conditioning unit should serve as a warning for the cooler in the South Australian summer.
Around eleven o'clock P. M. last night, eight metropolitan fire trucks and 37 firefighters evacuated the residents of the nursing home and put out the fire on the roof.
Investigators found that the fire may have been caused by the failure of the evaporation cooler.
A mfs spokesperson said it was time to check whether air conditioning, fans and portable coolers were safe.
"If, in the event of a heat wave, electrical cooling equipment is not properly maintained and is used continuously for a long time, there is a risk that the equipment will overheat and cause a fire," the spokesman said . ".
